Shanghai Zhuyuan Wastewater Treatment Project

The Shanghai Zhuyuan No. 1 Wastewater Treatment Plant, located in Shanghai's Pudong New Area, is the largest wastewater treatment plant upgrade and renovation project in China. Its designed daily treatment capacity is 1.7 million tons, with a maximum daily capacity of 2.21 million tons. Its effluent meets the National Class I B standard. The project was tendered in 2008, and construction began in 2009. It utilizes an ONYX UV disinfection system. The project extensively utilizes state-of-the-art CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) technology and ONYX patented technologies in channel design, product design, and effluent design, significantly improving the efficiency and effectiveness of UV disinfection. Since its operation in September 2010, the effluent has consistently met these standards.

The entire project was completed and handed over in September 2010. The influent fecal coliform count ranged from 500,000 to 1.6 million per liter, while the effluent count remained stable at 2 million to 5,000 per liter, both below the effluent standard of 10,000 per liter.
